INTRODUCTION TO ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT FOR WESTERN CANADIAN COMMUNITIES

SEDA developed the foundational program Introduction to Economic Development for Western Canadian Communities to provide an understanding and skill sets in basic community economic development  This course is accredited by the Economic Developers Association of Canada (EDAC) and can support the attainment of professional certification  in the field of economic development (an EcD).

The Introductory Course has been divided into four (4) modules which are approximately six hours in length. To qualify for credits from EDAC, all four (4) modules must be completed. They need not be taken in order.  Each module can also be delivered as a  stand-alone workshop.

Module I            Defining Economic Development
Module II           Basic Skills in Economic Development
Module III          Issues in Economic Development
Module IV          Facing the Future With An Economic Development Plan
