COMMUNITY PRIDE
Community pride is the most intangible of all the intangibles in community economic development. Perhaps the best measure of community pride comes in the form of the number of smiles you see on Main Street, or the number of community events held each year, or the ease with which a community raises money for the things it wants (eg. rinks, swimming pools, park development,etc.)
Despite being difficult to measure (or even recognize at times), the development of community pride is probably the most important community economic development process or tool of them all. Without it, any other initiative, however well-formed, will not succeed but fall on deaf ears.
Attitude is everything when it comes to developing a community. |
